I admit that since my husband and I started traveling, we rarely had time for our kids. Cruising has been one thing in common for the both of us, however, we can't bring our children along.
We would leave our children with my sister or with a tutor (to help them with their research papers) while we're on board for a cruise. I feel guilty about it but touring has been my and my husband's dream since we were young. Eventually we will be able to bring our kids along -- when they learn to appreciate the wonders of traveling.
Although this has a negative effect on children, so far, my husband and I have never seen a downright effect on our children. Although we cannot see them, we trust them enough not to do anything against the rules.
I read an essay online discussing the possibilities of children to become thirsty for attention (even of strangers and other people) when their parents spend time somewhere else. Although the article is quite alarming, I know that there will come a time when our cihldren will understand, and even share my and my husband's luxurious dream.
